Hi, I think your PDF download on the 24 month rule is somewhat misleading and seems to contradict the advice given elsewhere on your website. In the PDF you state "if you have already worked 18 months and enter into another 6 month contract at the same site address, then the 24 month rule will apply from the beginning of the 6 month extension". Really? I find myself in this very situation and having studied the HMRC guidelines I beleive the above quote is wrong. What do you think?

I am curently employed fulltime in a 9-5 job and I would like to accept a retainer contract offer from my previous employer who is based overseas(non-EU). Basically I provide expert advice as needed. I would not be giving up my day job. Intially this would be a six months contract. I'm not interested in setting up a Ltd company. Can PAYE Umbrella company be used, also would my employer be charged vat?

Hi, I have this week been offered a 12 month fixed term contract with a big bank, possibly perm after that. They are happy with me to go "umbrella" for the 12 months. A possibly stupid question, but if I went 40% tax payer working directly for the bank, I'd get equal benefits to full time employees, presumably if I go contract I get none ? And would I need to fund my own kit i.e. Laptop, phone etc, etc?
